Selected pages from the January-February 1949 Michigan Conservation magazine:

This is the first issue of the new format, and they've taken advantage of the new printing possibilities to give a truly great Charles Schaefer painting on the front cover (a very Michigan UP scene) and numerous color graphics inside.

Unless I mention it here you might not even notice: there is only one color in this entire issue - just blue & black. Note how skillfully the cover painting andinterior decoration was done to fit this single color requirement!
