In 1968: John Gray was editor, and Russell McKee was associate editor, Charles Schafer was art director, with additional illustrations by Ozz Warbach and Jim Campbell.
1968 was also the last year the magazine was named "Michigan Conservation", changing name to Michigan Natural Resources along with the Department beginning with the 1969 year.
The last page essays, which had continued in a slightly less literary quality and unsigned since Burrough's retirement, further approached that former standard in 1968 with end essays by associate editor Russell McKee, whose signature appered at the end of the last page essay for the first time. The final issue of 1968 had as the final essay a note of the Department and Magazine change, signed by editor Jogn Gray.
