This year we begin to see some indication of instability (perhaps second after some rapid changes in the editorial team, though that was all lower-rung staff, or mayve third to that and several large "proclamations" by Blanchard for this or that politically smiling cause).

in the beginning of 1990 Norris McDowell was listed first as editor, but mysteriously Susan E. Henry now appeared first on the list, before McDowell, as "executive editor". Was this a political manipulation to ensure reportage was acceptable? - this swift, unannounced rise to the top?

The remaining staff was unshuffled from the previous year: Richard Morscheck was managing editor, Gijsbert Van Frankenhuyzen was art editor, Barbara Nichols ennironemntal editor, Joe Sienkiel assistant art director, David Kenyon was photographer, Donna Burt was circulation manager, Cheryl Larreategui; typesetting, Debra Christensen; word processing and Frank Foster; circulation staff.

The magazine still cost $9.97 per year for a subscription, and was still printed by Speaker-Hines & Thomas in Lansing; color separations by Image Arts, Lansing, and printed on Mead Northcote paper made in Escanaba.
